Following light local rainfall of approximately 0.6 inches, today’s field readings along the Nueces River show stable conditions upstream and moderate brackish levels downstream. Both Well 1 and Well 4 were not pumping at the time of this morning’s site visit, while the well cluster showed minimal discharge activity.

Field Measurements

  • Upstream (Near Bluntzer):
    0.6 ppt salinity | 822 mg/L TDS | 80.0°F
Fresh surface water with stable readings above the well field.

  • Well Cluster Discharge:
    3.1 ppt salinity | 3,705 mg/L TDS | 80.7°F
Brackish water observed with low flow conditions.

  • Hazel Bazemore Boat Ramp:
    1.0 ppt salinity | 1,314 mg/L TDS | 80.3°F
Slightly brackish readings consistent with typical downstream mixing near Calallen.

Operational Notes

  • Light rainfall occurred across portions of western Nueces County yesterday.

  • Wells 1 and 4 were not pumping during the morning monitoring visit.

  • The well cluster continued low-level discharge.

  • Upstream and downstream salinity levels remain within the range observed throughout the past week.

Monitoring Summary

Today’s readings show continued stability following recent precipitation and reduced well operation. NGCD continues to monitor river conditions daily to document salinity, total dissolved solids (TDS), and temperature trends in relation to local weather patterns and well activity across the lower Nueces River basin.
