What We Do

Our Mission

NGCD exists to conserve, preserve, and protect groundwater while supporting the responsible development of our region’s natural resources. Through research, monitoring, and community partnerships, we strive to sustain the quality and quantity of groundwater across the Nueces Basin. Our work focuses on transparency, education, and proactive management to keep our water sources resilient amid Texas’s growing demand and changing climate conditions.

We monitor groundwater levels, track salinity and water quality, and provide essential data to guide responsible water use. From issuing well permits to studying aquifer trends, NGCD serves as both a regulatory body and a community resource. Our team works closely with landowners, municipalities, and conservation partners to support science-based decision-making that safeguards this vital resource.

Looking Ahead

As Texas faces new challenges in water management, NGCD remains dedicated to being a trusted voice for local stewardship. Guided by science, transparency, and a deep respect for our natural heritage, we are working to ensure that the Nueces River Basin continues to provide clean, sustainable water for generations to come.
